Surprise birthday Party for me?! Wow!

My birthday is on Christmas, so it's very difficult to celebrate it unless it is on a different day.  In any case I am not into celebrating my birthday but there are specific things I like being a part of Christmas - just for me.  Things like chocolate cake, lasagna, maybe tamales, and presents that say happy birthday rather than merry Christmas. This year, Nate kept telling me we were going to a Christmas party, on Christmas at his boss's house.  Meanwhile, at work with my dad I began to grow suspicious as to something being planned without my knowing.  My dad was buying a house, and then invoices came into the office with shipments to a new address. Was my dad planning a big event?  What is this order for dishes and tables?  Is it for a surprise party? I said to my dad, "Congrats on the new house!" and he gave me a very panicked explanation and said he had not found a house yet that it was for a friend.  He pulled up Zillow.com and tried to BS his way through it was

Inspiration -- Isn't it wonderful?

Over the weekend I had a chance to center, and do some thinking. It is the second week I did not go to Band Practice. The week prior, the guys came down and we had a meeting. Although I do think many things were resolved, something happened after the fact that set myself into motion into something I think is good but not necessarily to do with the band. I cannot say I am not mildly disappointed that TMH will not be opening for Epica. We had our chance, but perhaps it was not the right time. Still, I cannot help but feel disapointed at not being met with the same enthusiasm at an opportunity like this. Furthermore the situation showed me there is an evident tension and that arises from miscommunication. I am confident this will not happen in the future however I know that the distance does not help. Nate and I are in a long distance relationship with the band, and we travel the greatest distance to practice. This makes it difficult to bond and grow as a band since there are less t

The Meridian Hour Photoshoot 10/3/2010

Yesterday, our friend Yelena Kurich did us a favor by being our photographer.  We didn't want a big deal of a shoot but in our efforts to not take too long, the simple task of getting one band shot turned into a full shoot.  She brought her Muslin backdrop and we took photos in, our drummer, Justin's back yard. Jelena is in the same boat as I am, she needs to build her portfolio and gain experience.  So this was even more fun for me to watch her take our photos.  She did my makeup also, and she is officially the second photographer who took our photos to do my makeup.  I could have done it myself but I love female bonding and she's good at it! After taking possibly hundreds of photos, her memory card was full, so I took my camera out for her to use.  This is one of the photos she took... I photo shopped it to look more intense, the backdrop has to be cloned to fill out the sides, and I blended the backdrop with the ground.  I couldn't figure out what to do with that

Irvine Trail - My bike ride with Nathan and Sophia

Borrowed bikes and happy trails. I love the weekends when I get to spend it with my two favorite beings.

Sticks and Stones to break bones...

I am alive and well...  I know I am alive because I am all scraped and bruised from recent injuries and my heart has been injured as well. News:  Saturday, I decided to ride on my roller blades with no protective gear while letting Sophie pull me behind Nate as he rode my Jango bike....  She pulled me alright!  After getting excited over a Golden Retriever, she took off and down I went.  The bruise on my chin appears to be a beard at first glance.  Oddly enough, I like the experience of it.  I may not be 15 anymore but boy does it feel good to be alive and active. Tonight, after almost a week of bike riding with her, I took her for a ride once again.  She saw a rabbit and pulled, I yelled at her to stop but it was too late.  At the speed we were going her light tug was all it too to throw my balance off.  I over compensated and everything was all of a sudden slow motion.  You see, even when I fell on Saturday, it could have been worse but my mind doesn't panic, it accepts w

Lost in the Abyss.... I mean, sorry for not blogging.

I don't know who's reading my blogs...  I don't even know if they are fascinating enough to be read.  All the typos are embarrassing and yet I keep blogging without proofreading. Maybe people just peak but don't read.  There's no comments but I see there are views. In any case, I am sorry I have not blogged in a while.  MySpace is blocked at work, as is twitter and facebook... not that it matters, I could technically blog by typing up a word doc then emailing it to myself for a later posting, but I haven't done that either. So here's the updates...  Well the highlights, in no particular order, no time line, just stuff that's happened since my last blog. - I keep thinking there is more to life that working at a cubicle earning money for someone else and getting paid to neglect 8 hours of my day to provide my skills to them  It's not that I mind, it's just that I feel that my specific job, while valuable in this system, is not valua

The Morales Sea Voyage

Quality time with my family. Is always treasured.  Nate joined me, my dad and three of my siblings on the family boat in Long Beach. I got the best pictures (some of which are in this blog) published into a book for father's day.
