This is it - my rant in regards to my passion (MUSIC)

Excuse me for not wanting to compete.  No battle of the bands for me, thank you; no American Idol, or The Voice, or America's got talent.  While they can make great variety shows I actually hate those shows.

You didn't give two shits about the contestants until they were on TV.  Were they any less talented before being on TV?  No... they were just as talented, but you know why they didn't pursue their gifts?  Because they lacked support on a day to day basis.  They could have been famous if their families and communities supported and encouraged them.  Granted perhaps not all, but not all contestants who achieved success deserved that success either.

I actually find it offensive when told I should audition, as though my talents and skills are not good enough, I have to play the lottery to get rich and have no chance of earning it otherwise.  You belittle me and my band mates by suggesting such nonsense.

We are passionate about what we do.  We write original material, which is what already famous bands do, heck most pop stars don't write their own material.  Do you know what goes into writing original music from start to finish as a band or as an individual?  No matter what you personally think of the song, composers pour their heart and soul into it.

And we are good.  You want to know how I know?  Well come to a show and see/hear for yourself.  Put us in front of a crowd who's never heard us and I'll prove it to you!  Each show we play we meet new folks who really appreciate, even love our music.

Our songs have meaning, and depth.  Yes I write all the lyrics for Blackwater Prophecy as of now, I am open to the guys writing lyrics, and in Citizens In Peril we all write and if you know us well enough you can almost tell who wrote which song based on the feeling and tone of the message.  It's a beautiful thing.

But I get it.  Our music is not repeated constantly on the radio till it gets stuck in your head.  I get it, we aren't a big hyped up name that spends millions on advertising so when you see their name you automatically get excited.

Hey I am not mad at you.  I don't care.  It is your right to listen or not to listen.  If my friends or family don't support me, it will not stop me, though luckily mine actually do...

And I appreciate you guys!  I so very deeply appreciate you coming out to shows so venues trust us to come back, so we can keep doing what we love.  I appreciate that even though I am not a kid and this is not a school recital, you are still there supporting this passion of mine in my adult hood.  I appreciate that you listened to the CD and told me you liked it or even hated it believe it or not.  I appreciate you telling me you don't get it, or that it moves you!  I appreciate this exchange because this is NOT a dream for me....

You have to understand, this is not... absolutely NOT a dream for me...  This is simply, and purely a very big part of me.  If you love me, this comes with the territory so you better love this part of me too!  It is there thanks to you actually.  It is there because of you, because of everyone, because before I was born I was given secret orders from my maker and music was the instrument of my mission in life.

So you see, I have no option to become a doctor or a lawyer, and school won't bring me closer to my actual mission, sure it can bring me closer to a career that will pay so I can achieve my mission easier, but guess what?  That in itself distracts from the mission!

So I cannot say I am sorry for not fitting into a box of what you think I should be doing, but this is what I am... this is what I do.

I just hope you get to be a part of it, but I won't stop or slow down if you are not.  I will still love you, make time when I can for you, but this train is moving and I got to get to my destination.  It won't be over night and it has already been a long journey... but this is it.

Don't you see?

This is it for me.

Kevin Mcshea no matter the support many do not get anywhere. And just because you didn;t care about someone before they where on TV does not mean you wouldn't have cared, had you had the opportunity to be exposed to them. There is a simple matter of the exposure of...See More
Syren Franco My point is I get offended... let me work and either support me or bite your tongue.
Kevin Mcshea if they are telling you, you are doing it wrong, sure, but just suggesting something? Bite ones tongue...
Domonic BeatAlchemist Dunlap i love this! so true. As a music producer, especially in the hip hop genre, they often have Beat Battles. Now these are apparently stepping stones to assist in furthering your career in the genre..however i do not buy into it.
Kevin Mcshea I should be sure to ad, as others may not know... I do totally support you being apposed to the idea of competition.
Syren Franco Mainly this was my frustration with constantly being told to join a competition and then I am left thinking, "Do you only care about my talent if I compete and win?"

The thing is, I am doing what I love already. Sure I haven't sold my soul to the dev...See More

BFC Ink Doll Collection Complete!!

Well, if it isn't obvious, I got into doll collection, but I suppose I always was a doll collector, just not really by choice as my mom would buy me a porcelain doll every year for my birthday until I moved away for college, but even then I still got porcelain dolls as gifts from her and other members of my family. Over the years of course I have collected dolls from the 80's like the Kimberly doll by Tommy, and of course Barbie...  then I got into repainting Bratz dolls the past couple of years and added Monster High to the list of dolls to look for at flea markets etc... But one day, by chance I came across the now out of production MGA Entertainment 18" BFC Ink (Best Friends Club Ink) dolls.  These dolls are way cuter, in my opinion, than American Girl Dolls (which I really do not like at all actually) or Journey Girls etc...  They have a hard body all the way and were made in two types.  The first productions were just all vinyl bodies, much like the Wellie W...

Day 18: Gotta get ready for the February Show with Finding THETIS

I have been getting up late.  This is getting out of hand... and I really need to go back to the Kaiser clinic to get my blood-work done.  I've lost the morning, but I can at least go out and earn money.  I get dressed, my butterfly print top, and khaki pants... I opt to wear my slipper boots... who do I have to impress?  This is not my best outfit.  I don't care. I get to work but it is already 1:30.  After a couple of rides I remember it is Thursday.  Wasn't I going to carpool with Bryce from Finding THETIS?  I send a text message. "We carpooling?" "I was just thinking about you" he replies.  We joke about food before hand and decide to grab pizza on the way to practice, thus we should meet up at 4.  Itis now about 2:30 and I become self aware to what I am wearing... yeah, no one cares, but suddenly I don't want to be this frumpy around my band.  I stop by Ross and buy some dressy pants, a dressier blue shirt, and some shoes, I ...
