Surprise birthday Party for me?! Wow!

My birthday is on Christmas, so it's very difficult to celebrate it unless it is on a different day.  In any case I am not into celebrating my birthday but there are specific things I like being a part of Christmas - just for me.  Things like chocolate cake, lasagna, maybe tamales, and presents that say happy birthday rather than merry Christmas.

This year, Nate kept telling me we were going to a Christmas party, on Christmas at his boss's house.  Meanwhile, at work with my dad I began to grow suspicious as to something being planned without my knowing.  My dad was buying a house, and then invoices came into the office with shipments to a new address.

Was my dad planning a big event?  What is this order for dishes and tables?  Is it for a surprise party?

I said to my dad, "Congrats on the new house!" and he gave me a very panicked explanation and said he had not found a house yet that it was for a friend.  He pulled up Zillow.com and tried to BS his way through it was really quite amusing when he said properties were houses but upon clicking they were apartments... but I played along.

I asked Eileen about my suspicions that my dad was hiding something and she gave me a look and asked me not to ruin it for them as they had been planning so much.  So I went with it figuring my siblings and my dad and Christelle were to surprise me.  So that's where I am going with Nate for Christmas, to the new house.

So by yesterday I figured I would meet up with my siblings at the new house.  I got dressed up knowing this and asking Nate if I should look festive or professional for his company event and Nate didn't know what to tell me, he simply encouraged me to wear whatever I wanted.  So I said that I wanted to look nice for him in front of his boss, which normally he would appreciate but this was obvious he didn't know what to tell me as I was walking into a surprise.

Upon arriving at the new house, which I knew it was because of the address from those invoices, I heard my siblings whispering and running around, "She's hear!"  I rang the door bell and my dad answered knowing I heard them.  He laughed about it, shook his head and said, "The real surprise is in the back, go look."

Completely forgetting about the invoice order contents I walked out.  First off the house was beautiful, and I could see he was already remodeling it to his taste.  It was still empty and walking through to the backyard I saw a really big white tent, big enough for maybe a wedding.  The backyard was huge.  This lot must be almost an acre...  And this tent is very fancy with walls and all white.  I walked in...

SURPRISE INDEED!  My mom's side of the family mingled with my dad's.  This was set up for 300 persons, but it did not quite fill up, not that I cared, I thought this was going to be just the Morales six pack and this turned out to be both sides of my family!

My mother and father had not spoken since I was 18!  Here I am turning 29 and here they are!  My grandma Julia, my aunts and uncles, even my cousin Anabel.  They all made it up here!  Of course they did, it was a chance to see my dad's house.  They have always been so curious... but not just that, my dad and my aunts and my mom had great times once, I am sure they were so happy to be invited and his siblings to be re-united with my family... it was a glorious sight for my eyes!

And Nate... Nate did this!  I know he did!  What a wonderful man he is!  I asked him and he leaned over and tells me, "Well, once I suggested a surprise for you with just your siblings at a restaurant, your dad did his thing and this happened."

What a sweet, sweet thing to do.  Of course my dad did not let Nate help pay for anything even though Nate had wanted to.  What a lucky girl I am.  My wonderful dad, and my wonderful boyfriend, and my dad loves Nate, this is family.

So we all had a great time, and surprise after surprise for me.  My dad requested lasagna be served in my honor, and the catering was gourmet!  There were tamales, and my birthday cake was chocolate!

My cousins on my mom's side kept saying they thought the party was going to be a surprise wedding.  I wondered about that, how would I have reacted?  I probably would have said yes, but would that have been a good idea?  I don't think I know if Nate and I should get married even if I love him so very much.  But I know I want to work towards that for sure.  In any case, this is my birthday, who gets married on my birthday?  A birthday surprise is all the surprise I can handle.

But I understand, this is exquisitely fancy of them to set up.  But of course!  I am a princess after all.

My family has a sense of humor.  This looks like a 3 Milk Cake which I hate... it was Chocolate.  (My aunt and Godmother Elvira in the background, My dad playing guitar and singing Happy Birthday... and me holding a glass of red wine from my dad's award winning label.)

BFC Ink Doll Collection Complete!!

Well, if it isn't obvious, I got into doll collection, but I suppose I always was a doll collector, just not really by choice as my mom would buy me a porcelain doll every year for my birthday until I moved away for college, but even then I still got porcelain dolls as gifts from her and other members of my family. Over the years of course I have collected dolls from the 80's like the Kimberly doll by Tommy, and of course Barbie...  then I got into repainting Bratz dolls the past couple of years and added Monster High to the list of dolls to look for at flea markets etc... But one day, by chance I came across the now out of production MGA Entertainment 18" BFC Ink (Best Friends Club Ink) dolls.  These dolls are way cuter, in my opinion, than American Girl Dolls (which I really do not like at all actually) or Journey Girls etc...  They have a hard body all the way and were made in two types.  The first productions were just all vinyl bodies, much like the Wellie W...

Am I a feminist?

Lets clear this up... I am not so much a feminist as I am an equalist. Women.Women sit here and complain about men and how they are treated by men when the reality is those women allow it to happen, and I am not saying this as some people would say rape is the victims fault... NO! I am saying, if he is not treating you as a person, cut him off! BUT... Same goes for men.  Men complain about women too. OK, if you feel she is taking advantage of you then cut her off. If you cannot stand her, then break up with her. Stop wasting her time and hiding behind wanting to be the good guy cause really you are being more of a jerk that way... and again.. same for women. Women who date the nice guy... I don't really like him, no chemistry, but he's sooo nice, I can't hurt him. To those chicks... you're a jerk! And you'll ruin him for the next girl who can appreciate him more. So my point. Objectification goes both ways. Exploitation is a two way street. Everyone can...
